Learning Pool retains Deloitte Gold standard for Ireland’s ‘Best Managed Companies’

Homegrown, Derry-based Learning Pool, the leading provider of elearning solutions, has retained its Gold standard for Ireland’s ‘Best Managed Companies’ by Deloitte for the sixth year running.

Now in its thirteenth year, Ireland’s ‘Best Managed Companies’ awards program shines a spotlight on outstanding private businesses from across Ireland and the exceptional performance that drives them.

Strategy, culture and commitment, capabilities and innovation, and governance and financials are the four pillars that Ireland’s companies are evaluated on. Led by Deloitte in association with the Bank of Ireland, ‘Best Managed Companies’ exhibit a number of common attributes enabling sustainable growth, and for 2021, the program recognized teams who pivoted their businesses through one of the most challenging years with strong leadership and resilience.

With this year’s winners, 139 companies are now recognized as Ireland’s ‘Best Managed Companies’ and just 17 qualified for the Gold standard. Maintaining the Gold standard for 2021 is a welcome triumph for Learning Pool in light of the ongoing global COVID-19 pandemic which saw staff adjust to a remote working environment, almost overnight.

Learning Pool’s Director of People and Performance, Louise McElvaney commented: “Our people are the driving force behind our organization and a key reason for our sustained growth and success. This award marks yet another incredible year of investment for growth and innovation, and I couldn’t be more proud of what we have been able to achieve during a particularly challenging eighteen months.”

Surpassing all expectations at a time when a majority of sectors are being impacted greatly, Learning Pool has continued to develop its suite of products and services throughout the pandemic, as well as launch a new library of content, including the Future of Work catalogue – aimed to help colleagues adjust to the ‘new normal’ of working. The company’s vast recruitment plans remained on track, expanding the business with 50 new employees across its six office locations and acquiring its fourth company, in as many years – that of Colorado-based, LMS specialists, Remote Learner

Anya Cummins, Lead Partner for Ireland’s Best Managed Companies Awards Program at Deloitte Ireland said: “This year, a record number of applications to Ireland’s Best Managed Companies Awards program were received. The quality of the applicants demonstrated the extraordinarily high-quality businesses operating across the island of  Ireland today. In a relentlessly challenging year, the winning companies displayed true bravery in how they adapted to change, with many innovating and some even accelerating their plans for their business.”

Ireland’s ‘Best Managed Companies’ were announced during a virtual awards ceremony hosted by Deloitte on Wednesday 8th September. You can view the full list here

The Gold standard for Learning Pool comes just months after the company achieved a 3-star accreditation for exemplary employee engagement from Best Companies, as well as ranking 57 in 100 for the ‘Best Large Companies to Work For in the UK’.
