The Role

This is an exciting opportunity for an analytical bid/proposal writer with at least a year’s experience in supporting commercial activity to take the next step in their career. You’ll have the opportunity to develop your skills in a highly collaborative environment whilst having clear career progression as we continue to accelerate our already considerable growth.

Learning Pool’s Bid Team supports our commercial organization in responding to external requests for information, defining world-class solutions and preparing compelling project proposals. Working as part of the team, you will also help salespeople and learning consultants to qualify opportunities, prepare bid presentations and proposals for the customer and maintain an up to date library of bid assets.

You will need to enjoy working to fixed and often short deadlines and have the ability to network effectively across Learning Pool to coordinate resources and expertise from colleagues in other teams. An eye for detail and fantastic communication skills are required, whilst a good understanding of learning technologies is an advantage but not essential.


What you'll be doing

The role holder will:

  • develop a deep understanding of our products, services and solution propositions
  • review client documentation to commercially and technically qualify opportunities and establish their range of requirements
  • complete Pre-Qualification Questionnaires, Invitations to Tender and Requests for Information / Proposals in liaison with the Sales and Learning Consultant teams
  • properly create, format and proofread bid documentation, using pre-existing text and graphics where suitable and developing new where needed
  • work with Technical and Design teams to extract or create resources for each client response
  • liaise directly with clients to capture and clarify requirements when necessary
  • coordinate proposal creation and ensure submission deadlines are met
  • help the sales team to help develop compelling client presentations
  • attend sales and bid planning meetings
  • help maintain a customer reference register and support the creation of case studies
  • FAQ support to help commercial teams to respond to client FAQs from supplier RFPs and supplier questionnaires

In addition to the responsibilities above, you may be required to perform other duties assigned by the department from time to time. We work as a team and everyone is expected to chip in with help as needed.


Who we are looking for

The successful candidate will demonstrate that they are enthusiastic and knowledgeable about technology, skilled at communicating this with a broad range of clients both verbally and in writing and have an exceptional eye for detail. Commercial experience in selling learning technology products and services is desirable but not necessarily essential for the right candidate.

At interview we’ll want to see that you can demonstrate these characteristics.


  • A basic understanding of business to business sales activity and the bidding process
  • Highly flexible and motivated, working without supervision as needed
  • Ability to multitask to work across bid activities effectively
  • Excellent attention to detail, particularly in writing and proofreading
  • Persuasive communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Experience of building strong relationships at all levels both internally, with clients and prospective clients
  • Deadline driven with effective time management skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, self-directed, entrepreneurial team environment
  • Given a suitable period for learning, the ability to understand and respond to technical information in response to a client’s specific requirements
  • A positive, friendly and can-do attitude


  • Experience using business tools – Google Suite, MS Office and Salesforce CRM
  • Technical aptitude and understanding of software and service-based solutions
  • Ability to understand client needs in relation to the wider online and blended learning industry
