About the role

Due to the continuing growth of our business, Learning Pool is seeking to hire an experienced legal professional to join our team as a Contracts Manager

This role, which reports to the Director of People and Performance is a key strategic hire and the successful candidate will have the opportunity to directly influence our strategy and play a key role in building strong relationships with our clients. 

We hope to hire someone with ambition, drive and commercial acumen for this role and we’ll support the individual to develop their skills in a fast-paced, high-tech environment.

What you'll be doing

Your main responsibilities will include: 

  • Negotiating and executing all contracts with clients and prospective clients
  • Overseeing the delivery of legal services required by the business achieve its business plan
  • Implementing legal and contractual strategies for the business which are consistent with the long term interests of the company
  • Highlighting risks where necessary and seeking ways to mitigate them through innovative solutions.
  • Reviewing and completing supply agreements, including IT and service agreements arising from the company’s business operations, in conjunction with the relevant Director
  • Working closely with the commercial teams to ensure they are aware of the company’s commercial, legal and governance policies
  • Ensuring that all legal documentation is compliant with all current legislation, regulation and best practice
  • Identifying and delivering business process improvements initiatives to related to all legal and business affairs
  • Advising the senior management team on legal matters as they arise
  • Responsibility for legal due diligence as part of our M&A strategy
  • Managing and developing more junior members of the team to help them achieve their potential
  • Building relationships with key business partners and investors
Who we are looking for

The successful candidate will have at least 3 years of experience in negotiating commercial contracts. They will thrive on delivering high-quality commercial advice acting as a trusted advisor to our business. They will be able to demonstrate a proactive approach, strong commercial skills, exceptional communication skills and will be ambitious.

  • Excellent communication skills (online, telephone and face to face)
  • The ability to negotiate with compromise solutions with a number of parties
  • A positive, friendly and can-do attitude
