The Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for contributing to the successful delivery of software projects within the company, ensuring software is of a professional standard and is developed using industry best practices.

The role requires working with other members of the technical team to ensure code is written to a high standard and developing new features for key platforms while ensuring they remain robust and reliable.

They will keep up to date with the latest trends in the field of software development/software engineering, and will ensure their technical knowledge and skills are kept up to date accordingly. This role reports to the software Team Lead.

What you'll be doing


The role holder will:

  • Use industry best practice to develop and maintain key platforms using JavaScript/NodeJS, LESS/CSS and HTML5.
  • Work with stakeholders to develop viable solutions to complex requirements.
  • Collaborate on the planning and scoping of work to be delivered.
  • Use unit-testing and other testing approaches to ensure software is robust and reliable.
  • Participate in peer review of other team member’s code and feedback to ensure code quality.

    Who we are looking for

    The successful candidate will demonstrate the following:

    • achievement of a third level qualification in Computer Science or similar field
    • 3+ years professional experience in Software Development
    • professional experience in software development using JavaScript/NodeJS, Typescript, HTML5, LESS/CSS
    • desirable skills: JavaScript Frameworks (React/Redux), MongoDB, previous experience with Learning Management Systems, experience with unit testing and continuous
    • integration, experience in UX best practices and accessibility (a11y)
    • RESTful web services, distributed application design, software design patterns
    • highly motivated, results oriented, with a focus on quality
    • excellent oral and written communication skills
    • ability to communicate well both within and without the technical team, and comfortable dealing with everyone from front-line support to the senior executive team
    • understand and experience with AWS Lambda is desirable, but not essential.
