Mental capacity is the ability to make a decision about a particular matter at the time the decision needs to be made. This elearning module looks at the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) in detail and examines the Code of Practice, roles and responsibilities, data protection and the legal framework.
On completion, learners will understand the function and application of the Mental Capacity Act 2005, the aims and values of the 5 MPA principles and the various roles and responsibilities involved in the Mental Capacity Act. They will also have a deeper understanding about the DoLS and who does what during the process.
