Introduction
One of the core elements of a great LXP is its social capabilities, and redesigning the comments UI and emoji reactions for comments are two of our many plans to provide social improvements to the platform. Both lend themselves to providing a better user experience for learners on the platform with accessibility again at the forefront of their design plus richer reporting data from the increased engagement the new reactions provide.
Modern Comments UI
What it is
Org Admins can now enable a new object viewer UI for comments in a learning experience. This will display users’ comments in a redesigned UI, that will be more feature rich in the future.
Why we have done this
As a learning experience platform, we want to provide our learners with the best social user experience possible. We have plans for lots of exciting new features for social enhancements. The first step was to replace the old comments UI with a new redesigned UI with basic features. This way we can iteratively enhance the new comments UI.
Keep an eye out for future releases as we continue to add fantastic new features to comments in a learning experience and other social feature improvements and additions.
How it works
- Navigate to ‘Learning Experiences’ > ‘{learning experience name}’ > ‘Manage Content’ > ‘Social Settings’
- Tick the ‘Allow Comments’ checkbox
- Tick the ‘Enable new Object Viewer UI’ checkbox
- Comments will display in the redesigned Object Viewer
- NB: Right-hand column position is only supported at this time
New Comment Reactions
What it is
Comment reactions have also received an upgrade with this release. The redesigned comments UI includes five emoji reactions compared to three text-based reactions in the legacy comments UI.
Why we have done this
In this modern social learning experience, users expect emoji reactions. Developing a new UI for comments means we can introduce emoji reactions to the LXP. The old reaction functionality is not intuitive, mobile-friendly or accessible, so when we upgraded to emoji reactions we worked hard to conquer these issues. We are delighted to bring more engaging reactions to comments that are also mobile-friendly and accessible. These new comment reactions will also provide richer data in Stream Analytics.
How it works
- Enable the new Object Viewer within comments — see above
- In the front-end, click on the emoji reaction selector on a comment within a learning experience
- Click on one of the five emojis to react to the content, or react with all five
- Click on a reaction again to remove it
User Enrolment via CSV Import (changes for the upcoming release)
What has changed
We are making some critical refinements to the way in which you can edit user accounts in bulk:
- The Learning Experience enrolment import area is now reserved for enrolling users unless you are an Org Admin
- The User import area should be used to make user account edits, including creating in bulk
Why we have done this
Having specific areas for enrolling, creating and editing users creates greater transparency for different roles on the platform. Peace of mind and less opportunity for error are just some of the benefits that result from this change.
Bug Fixes
- LXP-9054 – White space in messages to users no longer prevents the message from being sent in the event management system
- LXP-8732 – SCORM resource is now saving when the advanced settings is toggled on
