Introduction
Our commitment to delivering great products continues here at Learning Pool, and we are very excited to announce some amazing features for the platform. First up, we have our brand new ‘Social Mentions’ feature, allowing learners to socialise and engage in new ways. Learners can mention each other in social comments and directly notify colleagues who are mentioned.
Next up, we have added the option for a ‘Discover Banner’ to the Discover page. This new addition allows you to upload your very own custom banner image for the Discovery page, catching the learner’s eyes and engaging them from the get go!
Social Mentions
What it is
This exciting new piece of functionality is available to learners within the new comments UI. Users can now mention other users within social comments.
Why we have done this
Mentioning friends and other users within a social space is fundamental to the social experience and a natural conversation. Users need to quickly and effectively direct comments toward other user(s). This brings a greater sense of social contact between users. Instead of having to trudge through countless replies and comments, users can be mentioned directly so that conversation can flow easily.
How it works
- Enable the new comments UI in the object settings so that users can mention another user(s)
- Users can tag other users that are enrolled in the same learning experience in a social comment using the ‘@’ symbol followed by their name
- A drop-down of suggested users will appear once two characters are entered
- As more characters are entered, the user list will become more refined
- Selecting the name will tag the user in the comment
- The ‘@mentioned’ user(s) will receive an in-platform notification, from where they can navigate to the comment
Please find our video detailing these improvements here.
Discover Banner
What it is
Org admins now have the ability to upload a banner image to the Discover page. Once uploaded, the image will display along the top of the page for all users.
Why we have done this
The Discover page provides the ability to easily find relevant learning without the need to search, but we want to get learners even more engaged. The Discover Banner helps you create a focal point for the learner, so it can play a crucial role in catching their attention and establishing a connection.
You can follow the steps below to start taking advantage of this great new feature and watch a video of it in action, here.
How it works
- Once the Discover page has been enabled, navigate to ‘Admin’ > ‘Settings’ > ‘Edit Organisation’
- Expand ‘Image settings’
- Select ‘Choose file’ under ‘Discover Banner Image’
- Upload the desired image
- Click ‘Save’
Bug Fixes
- LXP-8951 – An update has been made so that launched content will display for a Learning Experience that has been completed but has not yet been viewed
- LXP-9084 – The exported users’ CSV file no longer uses the incorrect separator that was causing issues with the data-to-columns feature in Excel
