Introduction
Continuing our journey to improve user experience, we are delighted to announce a redesigned primary navigation bar to Stream LXP for all customers that will be released by the end of this week. There is a language selector on the user registration and login pages, and we have introduced an in-platform notification for when a learner’s due date is approaching.
New Primary Navigation Bar Layout
What it is
A redesigned primary navigation bar layout:
- Search bar is collapsed into a search icon that will expand when selected
- App playlist button has been replaced with a plus icon
- Notification icon has one dot displaying the number of notifications and will be coloured red if notifications have not been read
Please find our video detailing these improvements here.
Why we have done this
This is a continuation of our quest for ways to improve the Stream LXP user experience and user interface. We carried out an in-depth user experience review of the icons in the primary navigation bar. This exposed the need for a more convenient and intuitive layout with improved visibility. We needed to reduce noise from the user interface and help screen readers work efficiently. While also improving consistency between mobile and desktop platforms.
How it works
No action is needed, the new navigation layout is now the default on the platform.
Login & Registration Page Language Selector
What it is
On the login and registration pages, we have added a new dropdown menu to enable users to select the language for the login screen.
Why we have done this
Multinational organisations will typically have users speaking many different languages. Once a user goes to login, the platform can apply the language that is saved on their user profile. But before they go to login, the system does not know who the user is and so cannot honour their preferred language. The selector is a manual way for users to specify the language to use both on login and registration.
How it works
Enable the ‘Language Picker’ setting within the UI/UX service
Login page:
- Navigate to the login screen for your LXP instance
- A language selector is show above the ‘Username’ and ‘Password’ fields
- Selecting a language from the dropdown will instantly reload the page with the chosen language applied
- Once logged in, the user’s profile will dictate the language used in the UI
Registration page:
- Click on the ‘New Here?’ link and the language selector will show at the top of the page
- Choose your desired language and register your account
- Once logged in, the user profile will remember the selected language during registration
Due Date Approaching Notification
What it is
An in-platform notification that will be sent to learners, 14 days before their learning experience is due.
Why we have done this
Remaining compliant is business critical for many of our customers. Therefore, an in-platform notification to learners in advance of the due date is invaluable. The notification includes a link to the learning experience, for ease of access, promoting learner engagement and improving the identification of priority learning that is due for completion.
How it works
- Enable the ‘In-Platform Notification’ service
- 14 days before the learner’s enrolment due date, the learner will receive an in-platform notification displaying the details of the learning experience that is due soon
- The learner can then select the notification to navigate directly to the due learning experience
Bug Fixes
- LXP-7653 – User lockout has been changed from IP based to account-based. A user’s account lockout can now be removed by resetting their password.
- LXP-8866 – Only the specified ‘Group’ of users will be un-enrolled from the LX now
