The future of learning technologies

Learning Pool Labs is an evidence based research and ideas hub that seeks to create innovative learning solutions that maximise the potential of people and their organisations.

What we do...

Finding solutions to the problems others don’t

By talking to our customers we establish the outcomes they are looking to achieve and design disruptive solutions to help achieve them.

Learn fast: Discover, ideate, build, test, learn

We learn by doing. By generating numerous ideas and quickly spinning up testable prototypes we can check our hypothesis and assumptions allowing us to learn what works and what doesn’t.

Not afraid to fail

Failure is to be embraced as it saves wasted effort on the wrong solutions, giving more time and space to work on the ones that will impact and support our customers’ organisations into the future.

User-centred design: Starting from the point of need

Our innovation process is based on design thinking and lean UX principles meaning we always start from the point of need – looking at the challenges facing our customers in their working lives.

We’re currently exploring…

Future Skills

Skills analysis and enhancement are high on the agenda for many organisations. We’re currently designing experiments to test the impact on engagement with skills learning based on the delivery method and the subsequent impact on skills confidence and whether it can help close the skills gap.

NILE (Natural Interaction Language Engine)

NILE was the winner of our 2020 Labs Idea-thon submitted by Jon Brydges, one of our Senior Product Managers. It utilises speech-to-text and text-to-speech technologies to enable a number of features for our LXP including the ability to add comments and reflections using your voice and the ability to listen to text based content. We are currently doing research to establish the need for these features and whether the proposed solution is the best approach.

Immersive Technologies

We’re conducting a research project on how immersive technology can enhance learning. As well as exploring it from a pedagogical perspective we’re also looking at the practicalities and how organisations can overcome the barriers to adoption.
