Learning Pool’s guide to Learning Technologies 2022
April 11, 2022
After waiting a little longer than planned, the Learning Pool team is thrilled to be getting back out there for our first UK exhibition of 2022. The team is headed to London next month for the much-anticipated annual Learning Technologies event at the ExCeL. We’ve missed the buzz of face-to-face events and we’re very much looking forward to meeting old friends and making new ones at this year’s show.
With an event as big as Learning Technologies – brimming with the industry’s leading vendors and a jam-packed agenda – we know there’s lots to see! We recommend having a rough plan of your day to ensure you get the most out of the experience. And because we like to be organised too, we’ve put together a list of the things we think you might like to add to your plan…
Say hello to #teamLP at Stand #E10
This year, you’ll find the whole team at Stand #E10. Simply turn right at the main entrance of the hall and we’re the third stand on the front row. Top tip – keep your eyes peeled for people in navy or blue Learning Pool attire!
We’ll be delighted to take you through a short demo of any of our products and chat about your requirements and how we can help. If you visit us, you’ll even get the chance to have a flick through some of our award-winning off-the-shelf content to see what it’s all about. And let’s not forget our supply of coffee to fuel the busy days ahead.
Meet the Labs team
We’re inviting Learning Pool customers to join us on the stand to meet our Learning Pool Labs team to help them shape the future of Learning Technologies. You can learn about the challenges and technologies we’re currently exploring and, through sharing your thoughts and ideas, help guide our future direction. We always start from our customers’ needs so your input is vital!
Be in with a chance to win a free Macbook
By simply paying us a quick visit, you’ll be entered into a draw to win an Apple MacBook Pro 14″ (2021). You can’t say fairer than that can you?!
Free Seminars
On the exhibition floor, we also have a few interesting sessions you could attend. All free of charge and full of helpful information.
Journey to Extraordinary – Developing skills to improve performance and retention across your organisation
Ben Betts & Lindsey Coode | 4 May at 11.45 am | Theatre 1
Extraordinary things happen when companies invest in their people. Join Ben Betts and Lindsey Coode to find out how learning and development can move from just implementing their organisation’s strategy to helping drive it. By putting an organisation’s people at the heart of everything we do we can not only increase internal skills and capability but also ensure our people are confident and capable and that they have the ability to drive the future direction of the organisation.
Achieving maximum impact from your learning campaigns
Shannon Stewart | 4 May at 2.50 pm | Bitesize Learning Zone 2
The past few years have seen increasing demand for producing content and learning materials for the growing remote workplace. So what happens when you create the right campaign for the right learner?
Join Shannon as she dives in and explores the benefits of automation, including how it can make managing the training of your organisation quicker and easier; the value of designing the right email and how to engage your learners. Most importantly, see the results.
Off the record – How to win with off the shelf content
Ryan Cooper | 5 May at 11.45 am | Theatre 1
In the constantly changing and fast-paced world, we see increased demand and even higher expectations. In this session, Ryan Cooper, Head of Learning Libraries at Learning Pool will explore the essential role of off-the-shelf content and how to make good learning great for your teams. He will also look at how the right content at the right time can increase organisational effectiveness whilst saving time and money.
Maximise your business’s potential through learning
Dr Page Chen & Peter Gillis | 5 May at 3.30 pm | Theatre 1
Maximising your business impact through learning and development initiatives is a major challenge for L&D leaders, both globally and historically. Most models have proved too cumbersome or time-consuming to adopt. At Learning Pool we are working with Learnovate, the learning technology research centre based in Trinity College Dublin, Ireland, who have taken on this challenge. This session will briefly share the findings from Learnovate’s two-year research project, including the development of their initial model, and discuss the working model being used at Learning Pool based on Learnovate’s research.
At the conference
We’d also like to highlight some of the sessions we think are well worth attending during the conference across the two days. Our very own Sharon Claffey Kaliouby will be hosting a number of sessions that aren’t to be missed plus our client Jonathan Holmes from Domestic and General will share his thoughts on taking L&D online – the systems, the methods, and the essentials for success.
L1S1 – Women in Learning – Empowering Women Leaders
Chairperson: Sharon Claffey Kaliouby | 4 May at 12:40 | Conference Theatre 2
We need everyone’s voice to discuss the topic of Women in Learning and here’s why: Research states, that women are 2 – 3 times less likely than men to have leadership positions in Learning & Development. Studies report that firms with greater gender diversity among senior positions perform better. Thus, supporting women in senior learning leadership roles is not the “nice thing” to do but the PROFITABLE thing to do. The lack of C-suite women in L&D affects the bottom line of every business.
L2S1 – Developing your career in L&D
Chairperson: Sharon Claffey Kaliouby | 5 May at 12.40 | Conference Theatre 2
In this session, we bring together members of this year’s 30 under 30 cohort and a host of the over 30s to share development ideas and challenges. What can those entering the industry and those established in it learn from each other? Let’s create a bridge between those entering and excelling in learning to those looking to continue to grow and develop their careers.
T3S5 – Moving Online
Client: Jonathan Holmes, Domestic and General | 5 May at 13.55 | Conference Theatre 3
The past eighteen months have seen a radical shift from face-to-face learning in classrooms to self-directed, online learning and L&D has been at the forefront of this learning transformation. As an industry we’ve adopted digital solutions at pace to upskill remote-working employees and induct new team colleagues, enabling more personalised and flexible learning experiences. But it hasn’t all been easy. This session examines some of the lessons learnt on how to do it well.
