Learning Trends for 2022: Intelligence-led Learning
January 26, 2022
According to David Perring, Director of Research at Fosway Group, there are seven top trends the L&D industry can expect to make waves in 2022. Last week, we discussed the ‘commercialization of the learning function’ and how Learning Pool is already well behind this upcoming trend. In this blog, we consider David’s second trend which concerns intelligence-led learning over data-driven.
What do we mean by intelligence-led learning?
Intelligence-led learning refers to the practice of interpreting learning data to gain valuable insight into the efficacy of learning strategy and to make better-informed decisions about the future of learning programs.
Of course, data is the foundation of any good learning strategy, but David explains how it’s the intelligence we glean from this data that really matters. How it gets used to inform decision-making is what makes the difference; it’s the intelligence that it brings to decisions that is critical. Intelligence-led learning implies an organization has the right data and is connecting a wide set of data sources to validate, infer and enable better strategies.
Further to that, intelligence-led learning introduces a host of potential opportunities for learning teams: emotionally intelligent learning journeys, intelligent skills assessment, intelligent learning design and intelligent project prioritization. Again, data is the foundation but to have intelligence means you adapt and respond and can make decisions that will positively impact stakeholders, learners and the L&D team.
Understanding the significance of intelligence-led learning, Learning Pool has already embedded ‘Insights’ to its Learning Pool, bringing personalization and automated intelligence to learning. Powered by Sisense, Insights creates AI-powered, expertly designed dashboards built specifically for learning data analysis. Presenting accessible, adaptable and actionable visualizations, this integration is intelligence-led learning in its truest form, providing organizations with actionable guidance about the past, present and potential future performance of their learning strategies.
We realize, however, that the journey to intelligence-led learning for most organizations comes with an understanding of its data maturity. That is why we developed the Learning Analytics Maturity Model (LAMM) to help businesses assess where they are in their learning analytics journey and to help them make better use of the data made available to them.
