We’ve recently released five new titles to our Business training catalogue including:

1. Managing Stress and Conflict

Over the course of 2015/16, an estimated 11.7 million working days were lost to work-related stress, depression or anxiety in the UK; it’s become the number one cause of long-term absence in the UK.

As you might expect with such a prevalent issue, many organisations are taking steps to ensure that employees are properly supported and that any negative effect on business operations is kept to a minimum – and managers have a significant role to play.

This module is aimed at managers of every level, and will demonstrate how an organisation can best manage stress and conflict. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the equivalent Level 5 course is currently the most popular that ILM offer.

2. Developing and Leading Teams

The purpose of this module is to demonstrate a best practice approach to leading teams to organisational goals. We’ll approach the topic primarily from the perspective of you, the manager, but we’ll also look at the support provided by the wider organisation.

There will be a focus on four key areas:

  • Measuring performance
  • The role of the leader
  • Moulding a team
  • Identifying room for improvement

This module is primarily aimed at those managers who lead teams, but would also suit new or potential managers.

3. Making Professional Presentations

It’s estimated that up to 75% of us experience some degree of anxiety or nervousness when addressing a crowd.

This e-learning module has been designed to provide you with the skills needed to deliver a presentation confidently and professionally. Whether you’re a narration novice or a seasoned speaker, our course will serve as a best practice guide to creating engaging and informative business presentations.

It’s a practical unit, which would complement the skill set of any member of staff. Linking effectively to previous modules where an improvement plan has been created, the delegate is provided with the skills with which to present their findings and progress. Any management-related subject can be applied to the unit, including sales presentations and staff training.

4. Leading Innovation and Change

Innovation is key to an organisation’s ongoing success and, by definition, innovation involves change. This module explores various ways to lead innovation, along with how to implement change via a system of continuous improvement.

We will help you to develop an improved understanding of how innovation and change are realised within a business environment. We’ll look at some background to the topic, before demonstrating how to identify opportunities for innovation within one’s own organisation.

We will also provide a best practice guide to creating and implementing a change management plan.

5. Managing for Efficiency and Effectiveness

Efficiency and effectiveness are terms which often find themselves paired together, and both are needed for an organisation to achieve its goals and objectives.

They are two distinct factors in performance, however, and every organisation must strike a balance between doing things right – efficiency – and doing the right things – effectiveness.

This module will improve the learner’s understanding and ability to manage efficiently and effectively. We explore the measures taken at an organisational level, including forming a business strategy and implementing appropriate control methods.

We’ll also look at some individual behaviours which can improve managerial performance, such as obtaining feedback and personal development planning.
