Captivate your learners with relevant content

Sometimes it’s easy to get so excited about creating content that you miss the point of the project and create something that your learners struggle to relate to.

So, before you get stuck in, have a think about your audience, and the kind of relevant content that’s going to appeal to them.

Before you publish, ask yourself:

Does the course have what they need?

Here are some tips to get your learners on board and keep them there:

Use clear course objectives

Your learning objectives should be clear from the first five minutes of the course – learners want to know what’s in it for them, so be sure to let them know.

If your users know exactly what they’re getting out of it, they’re more likely to stay engaged with the content.

Focus on the learner & create actionable content

On-the-job learning is incredibly effective, but sometimes it just isn’t realistic.

Giving them the opportunity to encounter real-life scenarios through their e-learning content is an excellent way to bridge the gap.

It’s important to make an effort to understand your learners and tailor the course to suit their specific needs, adding questions and real world decisions will make them feel more involved.

Offer learners something practical to grab their attention

By giving them real life scenarios and asking how they would deal with such situations –  build their knowledge and they can apply what they've learnt in the workplace.

Appreciate your audience

Learners like to feel in control, that’s why it’s a good idea to show that you recognize their ability and knowledge.

Short pieces of content that have internal quizzes and assessments are a great way to challenge your learners whilst giving them the best chance possible at passing assessments, as well as retaining and refreshing information.

Use an appealing, reactive design

Using a variety of designs, layouts and images will make your content more interesting, if you learners like what they see they are more likely to be engaged and keep coming back for more.

Other helpful tips

It’s a good idea to keep these tips in mind for every piece of e-learning, making updates and refreshing existing content will engage and inspire your learners to come back and find out what’s new and useful to them.
