The solution to the “demographic drought”

Tips for companies due to the shortage of skilled workers

The “demographic drought” is causing labor shortages to worsen. Due to baby boomers leaving the workforce, reduced labor force participation among 25- to 54-year-olds, and lower birth rates companies are increasingly facing labor shortages.

What can companies do?

Companies no longer have the privilege of quickly recruiting qualified employees from the labor market. The number of potential candidates is smaller, there are always risks with new hires and it is not uncommon to be confronted with significantly higher salary demands when filling a new position externally. It is better to keep experienced employees, to develop them continuously and to pay them according to their development and responsibility.
