Learning Pool Live: Back in-person and better than ever!
October 21, 2021
With nearly two years having passed since our last face-to-face event, the Learning Pool team was ecstatic to once again pack their bags and head off to London for Learning Pool Live 2021. Now in our 13th* year (*2020 was virtual of course), Learning Pool Live stands alone in the industry as a supplier event that gives delegates a real opportunity to be challenged on the latest thinking in learning technologies, network with like-minded professionals and get first sight of the future products that Learning Pool is taking to market in the next 12 months.
Welcoming you back safely
Despite the world slowly returning to normal, we were keen to make sure that our delegates and our team felt safe and comfortable being out in the world of face-to-face events once more. As a result, we kept our delegate numbers lower than usual and worked with the brilliant team at The Brewery to ensure we were adhering to current guidelines and restrictions for the events space.
Order of the day
It was an exhausting couple of days for #teamLP but Learning Pool Live was back with a bang with a day filled with keynote speakers, fireside chats, product demos and customer success stories. And of course, the food was incredible!
We were delighted to welcome two new keynote speakers for 2021, Nick Shackleton-Jones, HR Director, Talent & Learning at Deloitte UK and Hannah Fry, Mathematician and Broadcaster. Kicking things off, Nick’s session, ‘Learning not Education’ delved into the difference between ‘learning’ and ‘education’ and how we design organizational learning that improves performance. Later on, Hannah answered the question ‘what is data’, explaining how it is stored, shared and made sense of and what it reveals about us and the world around us in her session, ‘The Joy of Data’.
Hosting two bonus sessions throughout the event, our very own Sharon Claffey Kaliouby, VP, Strategic Alliances joined us from across the pond. She started the event with her popular ‘Women in Learning’ conversation which began as a hybrid event in March 2020. During the conversation, Sharon discussed how we create more opportunities for women with disabilities in learning, how we support women from ethnic minorities and the opportunities we can take to expand our female senior talent pool.
We also heard from some of our star customers during the CustomerZone who shared their experiences of working with Learning Pool and the successes they have had using our products. A huge thanks to Dharmesh Chauhan and Jonathan Holmes, Domestic and General and Rachel Dixon, The Entertainer for sharing their stories and Nick Baker, The FA for taking part in our Fireside Chat on the main stage.
A great response
The feedback we have received from delegates so far has been astonishing with 92% of attendees rating the event as excellent. A lot of thanks goes to our fantastic keynote speakers, as well as our hilarious host, David Meade who kept the audience on their toes with a few mind-blowing tricks.
Of course, our delegates on the day are really the heart and soul and what makes Learning Pool Live really great. They made the day an open and welcoming event and we were delighted to have our annual awards back this year to celebrate best practices and innovation across our growing community of 1,100 global customers.

It’s not just about presentations and awards though, we also love our community. Each year, L&D and HR professionals come together to share, network and catch up with old friends.
Our hashtag – #LearningPoolLive – saw some great tweets last week and took our message far beyond the event.
