Making learning more visual: Training tiles for the Record of Learning
The Record of Learning (ROL) in our LP LMS has always served a crucial role, providing learners with a comprehensive view of their assigned and completed learning. But while functional, the traditional list format wasn’t always the most engaging experience for users. So What if learners could access their training records in the same visually rich, tile-based format used in the course catalogue view?
The Challenge with the Current ROL
By default, the LMS’s ROL presents a straightforward list of clickable text links. While this design is practical, it lacks the visual appeal that today’s users expect, especially those used to more intuitive interfaces across digital platforms.
Our Solution: Training Tiles
Our team at Learning Pool set out to bridge this gap. The result? A custom-built Training Tiles block plugin.
Learners can now see their assigned learning content, courses, programs, or certifications, displayed as interactive tiles without any manual configuration required.
Each tile is visually consistent with the course catalogue view, delivering a seamless user experience across the platform.
Key Features at a Glance
- Automatic Tile Generation: Tiles are auto-populated based on the learner’s assigned learning.
- Category Filtering: Site Managers can choose to display learning only from specific categories (e.g., mandatory compliance or leadership programs).
- Visual Continuity: The layout and styling mirror the LP LMS catalogue view, offering a unified interface.
- Improved Engagement: A more modern, visual interface encourages learners to revisit and engage with their learning records more regularly.
