Day 1: Wednesday, Nov 12 | 12:45-1:15pm PST  | Live Stage

Session Title: Finally Solving the 2-Sigma Problem? AI’s Answer to Personalized Learning

Imagine a world where every employee has their own personal tutor.

In 1984, educational psychologist Benjamin Bloom demonstrated the incredible potential of one-on-one instruction through his “2 sigma problem,” revealing that students who received individual tutoring performed two standard deviations better than those in traditional classrooms.

For decades, L&D leaders have strived to replicate that success—but the cost and complexity of personalized tutoring kept it out of reach.

Today, AI and automation are changing that story.

In this session, you’ll discover how AI-powered tools can now deliver truly personalized, human-like learning experiences—offering instant feedback, realistic skills practice, and adaptive learning paths—without increasing workload or budget. You’ll also see why a unified learning ecosystem consistently outperforms disconnected systems when it comes to engagement, data, and measurable results.

If you’ve ever dreamed of giving every learner the gold standard of individualized instruction, this is where learning science meets real-world scalability and impact.

In this session, you’ll learn how to:

  • Understand Bloom’s “2 sigma problem” and why it’s shaped learning design for 40 years

  • See how AI and automation now make one-on-one tutoring possible at scale

  • Learn why integrated learning platforms outperform multi-vendor setups in engagement, insight, and ROI

  • Explore real-world examples of AI tools delivering human-like feedback and coaching

  • Identify the key criteria to assess whether vendors can deliver truly personalized, scalable learning experiences
