Learning Pool’s Hang Ten with Nigel Paine

Introducing Learning Pool’s ‘Hang Ten’

We know that the impact of the recent global pandemic and the uncertainty that surrounds it is putting strain across all areas of business, and that includes Learning & Development. Thus inspiring Learning Pool’s ‘Hang Ten’ series.

This brand-new video series will consist of informal five-minute chats and will give you a great opportunity to feel connected to others in the industry and gain a rare glimpse into their day to day lives. Sharon Claffey Kaliouby will be hosting the series and will be joined by a number of learning professionals to discuss how they are in general and how they’re coping with the current climate.

For series four, Sharon was joined by Nigel Paine, Co-presenter of Learning Now TV as he discusses his theory behind why some organizations are thriving during the COVID-19 pandemic, and why others are suffering.

‘The organizations that are about learning in the moment, in the workflow, on the job are the ones that are doing really well.’

Watch below as Nigel shares his advice on how you could also thrive in these conditions, whether that’s in a development or management role.

The last few months of lockdown appear to have added a whole new dimension to the role of Learning and Development.

It seems clear that many L&D teams are rebuilding their role, and making themselves a core part of their business and integral to staff performance.

Nigel Paine will join us on the 9th of July for Learning Pool Live Online. His keynote session will set the tone for the day as he explores how working and learning has changed over the last few months and which of those changes are likely to stick around in the future.

What is a Hang Ten?

According to the Wiki dictionary, a Hang Ten is ‘a surfing maneuver in which a surfer stands and hangs all his or her toes over the nose of the board.’ It’s a maneuver all surfers want to achieve on a longboard and requires great skill and expertise. At Learning Pool, a number of our innovative products are very water-driven, we have our LXP Stream, Waves, Rapids and Flo.  We also work with some of the most impressive client companies,  so we thought this idea fit perfectly.
